Michael Shames' Banjos |
|
A Bacon & Day # 7 Montana Ne Plus Ultra. The #7 was the highest
number in the B & D Montana series. "Montana" was a very famous,
flamboyant, vaudeville banjoist of the 1920's who performed in an all
white cowboy suit. The banjos in this series were all made in white holly
wood, with very elaborate and colorful decorations. The plectrum
instrument seen here was made about 1925, and has a serial # of
24920.
